Our Client’s Goal
The Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) is a nonprofit focused on improving the quality of life for San Francisco residents, particularly in the Chinatown neighborhood. In winter 2023, CCDC turned to Full Court Press to assess and enhance its communications strategy. The goal was to refresh messaging, streamline internal media relations, and prepare the team for future communication challenges, all with the ultimate aim of better supporting their community.
To ensure long-term success, CCDC needed a comprehensive plan to help communicate more effectively with both internal teams and the broader community they serve.
The Approach
To address these objectives, Full Court Press employed a multi-step, research-driven approach:
Stakeholder Interviews
We began by interviewing a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. This process helped us better understand CCDC’s position within the community, uncover opportunities for growth, identify organizational strengths, and pinpoint existing communication challenges.
Competitive Analysis
We conducted a competitive analysis, interviewing communications staff from three peer organizations. This helped us identify best practices that could be integrated into CCDC’s communications processes, ensuring their strategies stayed current and competitive.
Strategic Planning
Leveraging insights from stakeholder feedback and the competitive analysis, we worked closely with the CCDC team on a strategic planning effort, resulting in a comprehensive communications plan designed to optimize their internal processes and refine messaging.
The Results
The strategic communications plan delivered tangible results for CCDC, directly supporting their mission to better serve the community, including:
- Clear recommendations to streamline operations within CCDC’s communications team, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- A refreshed messaging framework aligned more closely with CCDC’s values and community goals.
- Guidance for CCDC’s long-term communication strategy, preparing them for future challenges and opportunities in public relations.
